NERIST registrar beaten by miscreants
ITANAGAR, Sept 2: The Students' Union of NERIST has vehemently condemned the physical assault on Registrar of North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology Dr. R P Bhattacharjee and driver K K Methew by some unidentified persons at Nirjuli yesterday evening.
NERIST Students Union in a release informed that Dr. Bhattacharjee was allegedly beaten by some unidentified persons when he was coming back after dropping his daughter at NIT Hostel, Nirjuli.
Reportedly, the incident occurred when the driver made a turn of his vehicle near a residence. Although the Registrar had apologized on behalf of the driver for any unintended disturbance caused to them, the persons did not mercy them, the release said.
Both the injured Registrar and driver were rushed to General Hospital, Naharlagun for treatment.
An FIR has been lodged against the unidentified persons at Nirjuli Police Station, the release informed.
IMC to stop lifting garbage from markets

CE calls for early restoration of damaged Pacha hydel project
ITANAGAR Sept 2: Chief Engineer (WZ), Department of Hydro Power Development Pura Tupe inspected the Pacha Hydel Project in East Kameng, which was damaged by flash flood recently.
The Chief Engineer directed the field officers to start restoration work maintaining quality and complete it as early as possible.

Sagalee ADC visits flood affected area
ITANAGAR, Sept 2: Sagalee ADC Jalash Pertin visited the Church Building of Pentecostal Christian Fellowship Church, (PCFC) Missionary Land at Papi colony, Sagalee on August 29 along with ASM Bokoriang New Panchayat Techi Serbang and officers and officials of WRD and Urban Development to verify the damage caused by flood on August 25 last following incessant rain.
During the visit, PCFC Church Secy Nabam Tadap, requested both Administration and the Panchayat leaders to properly access the loss caused by the flood and also to pursue the matter with the Govt.
ASM Bokoriang, New Panchayat Techi Serbang, who accompanied the administration, requested ADC Sagalee to take up the matter to the concerned authority to prepare specific policy to effectively check such recurrence in future. He also requested ADC Sagalee to provide necessary assistance from the administration side for immediate restoration of the situation.

Relief sought for fire victims

DUMPORIJO, Sep 02: Dumporijo MLA Paknga Bage asked the authority concerned to provide immediate relief to the fire victims Yomdo colony Dumporijo, where several houses were gutted Saturday last.
While expressing concern over repeated fire incidents in Dumporijo area, the MLA appealed to the department concerned to establish a fire station at Dumporijo town with fire tenders.
Fire tenders took over 40 minutes to reach the spot. By the time fire tender reached the accident site, the damage had already been done.
He also appealed to the public to take utmost care while handling fire to prevent home fires.

Arunachalee citizen goes missing in Assam

ITANAGAR, Sept 2: One Techi Gelo, an Arunachalee citizen of Lekhi village today went missing from Gohpur under Sonitpur district of Assam. According to the family source this afternoon Gelo had gone to Gohpur after receiving phone call from a local resident informing about availability of a house maid. However he lost touch with the family members after 3 PM and henceforth remains untraceable. The family members have lodged an FIR at Gohpur police station.
His Scorpio vehicle has been found abandoned near the roadside at Dhalpur and Dhalpur police have recovered the vehicle and kept in their custody at Police Station.
When contacted Officer in Charge of Gohpur police station confirmed the missing report and stated that police have launched the investigation. Police officials from Sonitpur also informed that they are yet to receive detail information but assured to give the case top priority. It is too early to make a judgment but family source feared that Gelo might have been kidnapped.
One person killed at a remote village of West Siang
ITANAGAR, Sept 2: A person named Yumsen Laju was killed in a remote Torajan village under Kangku circle of West Siang district, bordering Assam, on August 28 last. The matter came to light when the mother of the victim lodged a missing report of his son at Likabali Police Station on August 30.
The police team immediately swung into action and recovered his decomposed body from the fish pond at the back of his house at Torajan on the same day.
“The body was found floating in the fish pond and was decomposed beyond recognition,” informed OC PC Likabali Tali Kaye.
Arrest of the wife, who was behaving rather abnormally, led to the arrest of one Dharmendra Sintey of the same village today who had allegedly murdered her husband to avenge an old enmity, he informed. The accused is lodged at Likabali Police Station.
As the incident unfolded, the husband had come home along with the accused on August 28 at about 9pm. They both went for a bath at the back of the house when the accused, in the presence of the wife of the victim, allegedly hit the victim in the head four times with a stick killing him on the spot and then threw the body to the pond.
“The accused, according to the wife of the victim, had threatened to kill her along with children if she divulged anything about the incident to the police,” OC Kaye added. A case has been registered at Likabali Police Station under section 302 IPC.

The force is also trying to locate his cell phone and email ID location to know his whereabouts but so far, it has not been successful.
In the past also, there have been cases where Army personnel went missing in foreign countries.
It is also reported that the Raj Bhawan officials at Itanagar had informed the matter to senior army officials as he failed to report on August 18 last.PTI
CM reviews status of SPA projects implementation
ITANAGAR, Sept 2: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has reviewed the progress of implementation of the projects under Special Plan Assistance (SPA) in a meeting in his office today. The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, Secretaries/Chief Engineers/Directors of all implementing departments besides concerned officers of the Planning Department.
The Chief Minister, while reviewing the status of the projects expressed his concern regarding the delay in implementation of some projects and submission of Utilisation Certificates by the departments. He directed the concerned departments to expedite the implementation of the projects which are delayed beyond their scheduled date of completion and also asked all concerned to develop a system whereby UCs are submitted in a time bound manner. The Chief Minister also instructed the heads of the departments to regularly monitor the progress of the projects to ensure their completion as per timeline fixed by the Govt. of India. He further directed the departments to complete the projects as per the terms and conditions.
The Chief Secretary, while directing the departments concerned to take all necessary steps to complete the projects, emphasized on the need for taking over of the assets by the user departments immediately after their completion for ensuring their utility and maintenance. He also directed that the Secretaries of the nodal departments should monitor and review the progress of the projects on a regular basis with the executing agencies and sort out the issues hampering the implementation of the projects, if any.
The Secretary (Planning) while giving an overview of the status of submission of UCs by various departments, urged upon the implementing departments to submit the pending UCs immediately for which expenditure have already been incurred. Since, all SPA projects are monitored online by the Govt. of India and also subject to Third Party Monitoring, the departments concerned were asked to strictly follow all the codal formalities and other mandatory provisions.
Fund requirement for various major ongoing projects under SPA viz. Mini Secretariat, stadiums, CC roads etc and the problems faced by the departments in implementation of the projects were also discussed in the meeting. The Chief Minister assured to look into the matters and asked the Chief Secretary and Secretary (Planning) to initiate appropriate action, according to an official release.

These youth would be trained for 9 months and skilled in ‘Health Care Combo Course’ including Nursing Assistant, Bedside Assistant, Laborotary Technician Assistant, Basic Anatomy and Physiology Course and Soft Skills. 82 youth from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh are already undergoing the course for the past two months at the same university.
Down Town University is one amongst the new VTPs which had recently signed MoA with the State Govt. to undertake skill development training programme with minimum 70 percent placement assurance and a minimum starting salary of Rs 8000 per month to passed out trainees. The 16 year old university is located at Panikhaiti in Guwahati and has the distinction of opening the first Paramedical College of Northeast in 2009. In 2010 it got the status of a Private University under Assam Private Universities Act 2007 and also got approval from A.I.C.T.E to start an integrated campus. It presently runs courses in Nursing, Engineering, MBA and Pharmacy. A proposal is in the pipeline of the State Govt. to fine tune and further train the passed out ANM’s/GNM’s/Health Assistants from other institutes and provide them opportunity to get jobs. The university has also applied to undertake courses in Earth Moving Activities.

ZIRO, Sept 2: As the outcome of the shutter down strike organized yesterday and to devise effective solution on the issues raised by the traders of Hapoli market, a meeting of police department and Hapoli Market Traders Association (HMTA) was held here today in office chamber of the Superintendent of Police.
Initiating discussion on the issue related to attack and looting case of Joram Wine Shop, Tumme Amo, SP disclosed that he has already issued a circular along with photograph of the person involved in the incident and thereby sough information from public of whereabouts of culprits adding that the informer will be rewarded suitably.
Talking about other issues related to law and order problems in Hapoli Market, he also disclosed that the police department has already started distributing tenancy verification form in which tenants are to fill up the form and submit to the police department with identity proof through house owners. Besides, police has started picking up underage boys and girls who are found roaming at late night. After doing some formalities, we hand over them to their parents by inviting them to police station, he added.
They also discussed on the matter related to immigration of people into the district without inner line permit and also matter related to traffic problems. After discussion threadbare they decided to organized awareness programme on drug abuse, HIV/AIDS etc with school going children.

ATYO against any move to convert old inspection bungalow into MLA office

DAPORIJO, Sept 2: All Tagin Youth Organization has expressed concern over proposed idea to convert the old Inspection Bungalow into MLA office of Dumporijo constituency which is presently being used as office of the Circle Officer of Gusar.
In a complaint letter to Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dumporijo, ATYO informed that some people with vested interests are allegedly trying to convert the old inspection bungalow into MLA office with an intention to encroach the land in future. ATYO demanded the ADC to stop any such move immediately.
ATYO appealed to the state government to protect such govt. properties being damaged by some people with vested interests in name of construction of MLA office building.
Meanwhile, in a separate memorandum to Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, ATYO has demanded for establishment of Police Check Beats in various colonies of Daporijo Township to prevent criminal activities.
In yet another memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, ATYO demanded to ban gambling activity like Tambola, plying of motor vehicle on hanging bridge at in Pakam colony.

Pakde Uli memorial half marathon race organized

DAPORIJO, Sep 2: To encourage youths towards sports, Lt. Pakde Uli open half marathon (15 km) race from Dumporijo to Daporijo was organized yesterday.
Soma Pao from Seppa won the race clocking a time of 54 minutes to beat second placed Ngongchen Hodong from Khonsa, who clocked 58:8 minutes to cover the distance.
Karbu Kena, Talin Dolum (Gyadu) and Tai Natam, all from Daporijo, finished third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Cashes prizes with trophies were awarded to all the top five finishers.
The winner was given cash prize of Rs.50,000 while the second and third position holders were given Rs. 30,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively. Rs. 5,000 each was given to fourth and fifth position holders. Ten consolation prizes were also given.
The event was organized in memory of Lt. Pakde Uli, who was one of the renowned social reformers of the area, by his family members and relatives in collaboration with District Olympic Association Daporijo.
Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom, who was present on the occasion, hoped that this kind of events encourage youths towards games and sports and also provide a good platform to show their hidden talents. He assured all possible help for promotion and organization of such events in future.

Time for introspection
Dear Editor,
Recent rape cases at Naitong village, Longding district and Gensi, West Siang were very shocking. Now a day’s these kinds of heinous acts often keeps happening in our state. The time has come to ponder or analyze the root cause of such crime and how to stop it. I feel that the parents or guardian must educate their wards from the very beginning at home as the home is the first academic institution of the children even though it is a long term process. Subsequently the academic institution should be proactive in providing the best education including moral values to the students.
The government should be very stern in implementing the laws and at the same time they should provide proper infrastructure. Teachers and media must act as indicators to the alarming mistakes of the individual, institutions and the society as a whole.
Human values can be inculcated by leading a proper and honest life with genuine love, affection and kindness which have almost become nonexistent in our society.

Through your esteemed daily I on behalf of 23rd Taliha Assembly youth congress committee would like to inform that our members along with the shop owners of Taliha carried out maintenance work of damaged road near 3 km from Taliha Township on 26th August 2014. Due to our effort light vehicle is able to pass through. The road was badly damaged on 22nd August 2014 because of heavy rainfall. It was found that even though said stretch of road is maintained by Border Road Organization (BRO), none of their members visited the damaged portion. The people of Taliha/Paying and upper part are facing lot of problem.
According to information received, the youth congress committee member has also visited Sorto suspension bridge over Subansiri River. This bridge connects 14 (fourteen) village of Paying circle and is lifeline for them. However the wires of suspension bridge is badly rusted and has broken up posing serious dangerous. So, we request all the Panchayat leader of Paying circle to take immediate measures before any untoward incident takes place. We also appeal to the circle officer to kindly visit the Sarto suspension bridge and take precautionary step.

Establishment of university is tasking job
Dear Editor,
Apropos the news item under heading ‘Uncertainty looms over…’ published on August 29 issue of your daily, I would like to bring the fact to your kind notice that establishment of a university requires a lot of brain exercises and perfect planning. It is obvious that the government will undergo several phases of meetings to come to a final decision.
The blueprint can only be possible when all the modalities are hammered out. It can’t come in haste. Government cannot be blamed, if the blueprint takes some more times. Hence, any accusation on government on this matter at this moment seems too immature. The OSD has already taken the matter regarding base level planning with the higher ups several times to do the needful.
Moreover, the base line planning/ blueprint require expertise from various quarters and this process is on. I am pained and deeply shocked by the statement made in paragraph 4 of the news item like, “he has not received any go ahead nod …….. The state government has no future vision ……..” quoting the OSD as saying. As a government employee, I can’t utter and have never uttered such condemning words.

BR Ambedkar deserves rightful space in Arunachal
Dear Editor,
In Arunachal Pradesh almost all the cultural structures, institutes and etc. are named after Gandhi family only irrespective of their contribution. In my view its B.R Ambedkar who did a lot for the ST, SC and OBC of India, without him the aforesaid would not have got reservation in job and education. So the social, economic and political condition of those (ST, SC & OBC) people can be imagined without his contribution in particular and without him as a member of drafting committee in the Indian constitution in general. Therefore, the ST dominated State like Arunachal Pradesh has to remember him most and as a mark of respect should name some institute after him instead of Gandhi.
